    Default Oil Change

I just had my car serviced and I purchased the parts from Vauxhall

They sold me everything I needed but only supplied 5w30w full synthetic 5L bottle

My mechanic said they take 5.5L (2.2 DTI Signum) so he used all the bottle

Cant find a 1L bottle of Dexos 2 where can I buy one from or do Vauxhall only sell 5L???

How much do u put in urs?

if the 2.2 is like the 2.0 the 5L just about do for a change and will leave the oil level somehere between the min and max line (half way ish on mine).
Worth buying another 5L now and then you'll have plenty for top ups and a big head start on the next change. that way you'll only have to buy 5 litres for the next 5 or 6 chanages. hth

Do these 2.2 Diesel engines burn oil? - Only just bought mine so have no idea

If so the 5L makes sense but I thinking as it long life oil it shouldn't burn away too quickly otherwise its pointless as u will be basically added new clean oil every month so its never old enough to damage the engine as its constantly being replaced - if you get my drift?

    yep- get ya lol

some 2.2s were known to burn a bit of oil- but I've not had any such issues with my 2.0 though- and I nearly always use fully synth. I rarely ever need to top up in between as long as I fill it to 'near' the max on a service.

only exception was when it had 10w40 semi synth in it for a few months when I wanted to give the engine a bit of a flush of sorts and it burned nearly a litre in 4 months.

got fully synth in her now and she is purring like a lion that smokes cigars the size of telephone poles lol

welcome aboard fella- wheres the pics??? ;-)

Had my 2.2dti for 7 yrs now.

Always had vx 10/40 semi oil. Changed every 5k without fail.

Now on 109k. Never uses oil, and sounds like it did when i first brought it.
