Default Grrr, indicators driving me potty

Nice to see that the Vectra has the same annoying indicator stalks as my old Astra, drives me mad, cancels when indicating right, unless you physicaly hold the stalk, fails to cancel whe using left indicator, so you manually cancel and end up indicating right, what muppet designed that system, I hear that Vauxhall have gone back to the old fassioned way on the latest Astra, not sure about the Insignia.

Pointless system anyway. Instructors (HGV and car) always taught me that if you can't indicate for 7 flashes or more it's not worth indicating. Saves people flashing their indicator on for a couple of seconds, having an accident because no-one saw the indication and then saying 'well I was indicating!'.

BMWs have indicators you learn something new everyday.

I've never had an issue with mine, took me a few days to get used to them when I first got the car, but feels natural to use to me and I find it weird when drive a car with "normal" indicators these days.

I don't have an issue with mine either - took me a couple of weeks to get use to it at first.

Something to think about which should help with your frustration: the indicators work in a very simple, sensible way. If you indicate right, it'll carry on indicating until the steering wheel goes to the right, then back left past the point at which you started indicating. Similarly if you indicate left, it'll stay indicating left until the wheel goes left, then back right to where you started indicating.

So if you straighten the steering wheel, it'll cancel. So the best way to approach a roundabout is to make sure you have the wheel slightly to the left before you start to indicate right. Then if you straighten up whilst on the roundabout it won't cancel until you indicate left to take the exit.

Same with indicating left at junctions on bends - just steer slightly to the right, then indicate left, then steer left. It'll stay on until you either cancel it manually, or have completed the turn and move out from the kerb.

As for indicating the opposite way when manually cancelling it- just push the stalk gently - you're being too heavy handed!

I struggled with them when I first got my Signum, now i'm used to them, i don't have a problem.

To cancel an indication, just press the stalk the SAME way (it's foreign to start with)
