    Default Another anoying problem.

I was driving my 2.0dti Signum today and when I came to stop, I put the clutch right down and the revs were hunting between about 500 and 800. I drove off again and the car was driving fine. I stopped again 10 minutes later, no problem.

I checked on here to see what people were saying about this problem and I ended up putting it down to the engine trying to power the air-con.

Anyway, tonight I started the car in the drive and it was hunting even worse, about 500 - 1000 revs. I pulled away without any problem and then pulled in 100m down the road to check the revs, it was steady, about 750rpm. I did have the lights on as it was dark, but the air-con off.

Any idea what could be the problem?

What is DPF? And what is regenerating? I have seen other people talking about it.

Little update....Went out to the car. Started it, tick over was fine for 5 seconds or so, then hunting from 500-800 revs. Drove 100m up the road, pulled in, no hunting?

Plugged in scan tool, no error codes.

regenerating is when the car is warm and sometimes on a long run it gets rid of the soot from the exhaust

If I did have a DPF on my car, why would it have a lumpy idle every so often?

When I say lumpy, I really mean hunting. The car accelerates fine, but tick-over is hunting between 500 and 800 revs.

I've had HLS fitted, which illuminates the glow-plug light when the DPF is cleaning itself. When I stopped at traffic lights the other day, the car started hunting and running lumpy - and the glow plug light came on for approx 15-20 mins. Once the DFP was cleaned, it ran sweet again.
