Anyone know anything about it? My mates just asked if mine has been back and I have no idea, what's it for?

Is there anyway of knowing if the recall has been completed. Or does it involve contacting a dealer? Wanting to check my new vectra has been done. Did it cover all vectras or just certain models?

I took mine in to the dealers after receiving the letter about the handbrake recall.

There was never an issue with mine but thought I would get it done as it was free.

To be honest it felt better before they touched it but it still works.

Yep, I got a letter the other week. The issue is that if you pull the handbrake on with the button depressed, it might come free when the car's parked.

The Owner's Manual, sticker on the sun visor and modern driving instructors all tell you to let it click up on the ratchet when parking to ensure it's locked. In fact the owner's manual in every car I've ever owned tells you to let it click when setting it for parking.

The recall changes the mechanism slightly to make it less likely to slip if you choose to ignore all the instructions...

ring local dealers give them your reg and they will tell you if it needs doing.
before i had mine done it used to slip off the hand break now and again think its just a spring they will do a free check on your car so all good. unless they are robdogs and tell you you want loads of work on it

Buying mine from a Nissan main dealer, with comprehensive warranty, so will get check done for recall work whilst still under that warranty.

A nissan dealer wont know anything about a vauxhall recall. You need to contact a vauxhall dealer and if it needs done its covered by vauxhall FOC.

I'm fully aware of that, i was replying to a post telling me to watch the vauxhall dealer trying to claim other work needed, I was just commenting that i will make sure that should vauxhall try that then we will have a warranty through the nissan dealership.

    Info is here.

But if you leave the car in gear when parked up (as advised by both the handbook and highway code) then it shouldn't be a problem.
