    Default Which Iridium Plugs?

    Hey chaps,

Just about to get my car serviced before the LPG system is remapped.

I am reading that LPG works far more effient when used in conjuctoin with Iridium plugs as opposed to Platinum.

Can anyone recommend a good quality set of Iridium plugs for the following:

    2006 VectraC 2.0L Turbo

Much appreciated if you can give a good recommendation.

    Rgds

Stick with the major plug manufacturers, Bosch or NGK would be my choice.

Yep, but the standard ones are Platinum mate, not Iridium Because its LPG i am being told the Iridium perform better with LPG against the platinum.

This is from the LPG forum, so i can only assume they are talking from experience unless i can be told otherwise?

Yes they do, however where they recommend Iridium plugs, thought it best to ask here about which particular plugs to consider and where other vectra users have expereience with them.

One brand might be good on one make of car but not on another, so they cant be sepcific to a particular make of car (if that makes sense)

I often wonder how much better the new rare metal plugs are compared to standard plugs?

I remember when Copper cored plugs were the best thing to have, this has been followed by Platinum and now Iridium.

For the additional cost, do they really improve the running of the engine, increase power and improve economy to the extent the hype would make you beleive?

I would beleive not and will just stick with what is recommended by the manufacturer, after all they would fit the "better" plugs as standard if it made a big difference to the cars performance.

I am tending to agree with you mate. Its been running on the standard plugs for 6 weeks now, and no real problems.

Its just that i am having the LPG re-mapped on Friday and want to change the oil/filter/plugs to get the best possible map done.

I think the return for having the iridium plugs will not be so great as to make any real savings in the long run.

I have just spoken with a company who specializes in LPG spares etc, and they said pretty much what you have mate, stick with manufacture recommended plugs as that is what they all use in their LPG cars.

    Decission made!

    Many thanks

On some cars the difference is like night and day, with an lpg conversion I could not say. Running iridium plugs on that engine in normal petrol mode does not really make difference. I used denso iridiums on mine for a while but my faulty coils shafted them. I use a recomended gm boxed biofuel plug now due to the level of tune I run on my engine.
