Sun Visor upgrade...

I must admit I wasn't too surprised when the passenger sun visor vanity mirror wasn't illuminated on our new Veccie - neither my wife nor I have ever really felt the need for them to be - although it is a nice touch sometimes! Anyhow, after a day or 2 of ownership (or was it within the first 10 minutes ) my wife was on the phone, saying it's the first car we've had in years that hasn't had a drivers side vanity mirror. This was serious. I told her she'd have to do her make up whilst driving along using the rear view mirror like everyone else, but I was informed that a) it's difficult to do whilst she's on the phone , b) it's illegal and c) she never leaves the house without make up on anyhow

So I got to thinking about retro-fitting the illuminated visors... then I came up with a master plan of great intuition & cunning - just get a RHS visor with a mirror already in. Of course, the best place to look is in a LHD car... and my brother lives in Holland... and he's coming over in 2 weeks... so this afternoon he's going to an Opel stealership in The Hague to price up a passengers side "sonneklep" for me from the base model Vectra Essentia. Can't be that much...... can it

Won't be much of a "How To" on this one... undo 2 screws, fit new visor, reinstall 2 screws!

someone on here as upgraded the sunvisor. Check in the rrof lining to see if the wiring plug is already there then all you need to do is buy a passengerside visor with mirror, lights etc from a dealer and plug it in. Ill have a look and see if i can find the thread..

Well, I got the visor... and it was as easy as undoing the two Torx screws, & then swapping the visor over. It's an exact mirror image of the passenger side now... price was €43... or about £28 in real money!

No... it's as dark as Blackpool during the Blitz! Same as the passenger side of a poverty spec Veccie...

Think "Leeds Vectra" can help you on the power side of things, im sure he's done this mod.

I missed this thread before. Glad you're sorted but you didn't need have to source the passenger side from a LHD car. You can get sun-visors with illuminated mirror on the drivers side on cars here - my Signum has them on both drivers and passenger side.

As for the power, I'm also sure it was Leeds Vectra that has done this mod as Rushy said. It all depends if the loom is there as to whether it's an easy job or not!

My Vectra also has both driver and passenger illuminated visors ... so as Duncan said you could have got it over here ... but I'm sure that would have been less fun!

my designs the same , wondered what was under the flap on the drivers one , opened it up and vauxhall had put a picture of me behind the flap with lights each side ......
