Dropped by my local VX garage to ask them about a small amount of play in my steering. After telling me they would have it in to replace a UJ on the rack I got it back worse than ever. They didn't replace anything just oiled it up. I now have a loud click when I put the steering lock on and I can feel it when I'm driving along.

I hope nothing snaps when i'm driving!

The up side of this is that they are replacing the steering columb for a complete new unit. Should they also do the tracking as part of this?

Can't see how they couldn't. I'd a thought that a complete alignment check of the steering would be needed.

I'm unsure as to changing the columb and not the rack would affect the steering alignment. I just hope the steering wheel is on straight when I get it back
