Default Uprated brake fluid-what should I use

    Hi all,

I have gained a set of 345mm VXR brakes which I will be fitting over the coming weeks.
So far I have ordered new HEL braided brake lines and pads from VX (using my GM discount) I thought it might be a good time to put in uprated brake fluid.

The questions are, is is it a good idea to change to a better brake fluid and if so what should I get?

Go to 5.1 has a higher boiling point than standard dot 4

You will never notice the difference on the road - brake fluid is brake fluid. As long as you are DOT 4 or above, you will be fine.

You will if you push it hard enough.
But then again you shouldn't be driving like that on a public highway.

My thoughts were that I may as well use the best as I need to get some brake fluid anyways. Do not like to do things by half!

If you do go to 5.1 you will need to change it every year as its more hygroscopic than the normal stuff.

Even on my trackday 16v Nova I only ever needed to use normal stuff.

I think I will stick with standard then, every two years is enough for me

Just replacing it every 2 years will make a difference,

Most people dont do it every 2 years anyway so once its done its so different.
