Default 35 minutes to do a front spring

Had a customers Vectra fail its MOT at 5 O'clock today which also ran out today.

To make matters worse he was going on holiday tomorrow.

Got the car on the ramp and had the broken spring off before the replacement one was delivered

Quick cup of coffee whilst waiting for the new spring to arrive.

New spring on and tracking checked by 5.45.

6 O'clock and one happy customer driving out the door with his new MOT ready for his holiday

Why do people leave it till the last minute lol.

    Sorry.
Realise it was a last minute repair, not meant as a criticism only an observation.

Its not law markmac21 just a general rule of thumb.. As no one can guarantee the other spring is of same manufacturer so things like rebound rates and the actual gauge of steel used in manufacture may be different..

i can understand that shane but if they were so wildly different surely garages would not be allowed to just throw the odd spring on here and there , i am not sure i think its just another thing to make you THINK you have to and make you spend more cash , really my car handles perfect with just 1 front spring replaced , i just think people get up there ass about stuff like this , i have a mate who insists on the same make of tyre on one axle , i told him it makes no difference but he says if will mess up his traction control , a tread pattern is going to mess up his traction control ... NOT

Not to mention that it's done the same amount of miles as the broken one and has been subject to the same amount of abuse which could mean imminent failure.

As said, best to replace in pairs, like shock absorbers, brake pads, discs, etc.
