I used to work as a petrol pump attendant when I was considerably younger, petrol was around £1.30 a GALLON!!

We used to complain when the Government added 1-2p a gallon, now its 3-4p a litre.

UL = 102.8 63.9% tax

Unleaded has gone up 66.4p = an increase of £3.01 per gallon
Diesel has gone up 68.5p = an increase of £3.11 per gallon

So your 11 gallon Vauxhall Vectra in 2002 would have cost £37.65 to fill with diesel today it would cost you £71.86!

I remeber how upset I was when petrol went over £1.00 per gallon never mind £1.00 per litre. Now spend over £3,500 year on fuel for my car!!

From july 2010 to june 2011 i spent just over £10,000 on petrol in my v6 veccy. Glad i have a derv daily driver now!

Yes fuel.... hmmm.... I reckon it costs me about £ 215 to fill up the VXR including Nitrous, the Fiat 500 and the GSX600F.

Out of all that lot I could hope to get around 800 miles, so need to pick and choose the best weapon for the money.

Also the AA has just announced that the rise in fuel to 138.5 per litre, has wiped out the advantage of the extra 24 miles we get to a tank in the warmer weather
