Default Just filled up How Much?!!!

I just filled up at the local Tesco and it came in at £76.28!

Got me thinking last year I got a £700 pay rise and that was the first one for two years(Rubbish I know)

It equates to an extra 34p per hour

Out of that extra 34p the tax man takes his cut and NI so leaves say 24p

In March 2010 the fuel price for diesel was 123.2 http://www.theaa.com/onlinenews/alla...10/may2010.pdf

It now sits at 143.9 (What I paid today)

So out of my 24p per hour payrise for the last 2 years after tax & NI I have now lost another 20.7p just to fill the car up to get to work

So my 34p pay rise leaves me with a grand total of 3.3p

Oh and VAT went up so another 2.5% so another 0.8p on everything I spend with my 3.3p is going to the government as well

What am I going to do with that extra 2.5p an hour? Do I spend it on the increasing price of shopping or car insurance or car tax?

Shocking aint it,.. I remember when fuel costs rose around every 4 to 6 months... now it's nearly twice a day!!!!

I see oil was some 28% cheaper per barrel in Oct 2011... But the fuel at the pump wasn't!!!!!

I remember being able to fill up a car, buy a packet of smokes, a magic tree and a car wash - for £50 tops.

These days it's easy to spend £100 on the same!

I was watching a 5th gear episode the other day where they were complaining about the petrol getting close to £1 a litre and how terrible that was, was only a few years back, i'd kill for a quid a litre now!

I spend 87 quid filling my pug with diesel from walmart the other day. Same size tank as veccy. Not nice! Although i do get triple the mileage lol

Its shocking, everyone kicked off when it went over £1/ltr but it seems to be forgotten about. We'll be at £1.50/ltr before long, all the newspaper petitions will be out and it'll be ignored again. At least it's obvious where all that fuel duty is going and the government are spending it constructively!
