Question T/C Switch part 2 Question

I took my car out earlier to make double sure the switch was working (see previous post)...result is, orange light on i get wheel spin, orange light off, no wheel spin ...however....i thought that t/c cut in when you reached a certain speed (something like 35 to 40 mph)...i did speeds up to 70+ mph, the orange light stayed on.Does this mean i have `full` control of the t/c?

If the light is on you are in a wheel spin situation, or you will be able to wheel spin, as the TC is OFF, when the light is not on the TC is able to work if needed, it can be switched off up to 40mph.

Hi ed taylor, when i press the t/c switch, the light on the dash comes on (t/c off)...and when i reach speeds in excess of 40mph, the light remains on, i thought it cut into t/c mode and the light would go off yes?.....or does the light remain on all the time? unless i either press the button or turn the ignition off

Hi there tony r999. I would have thought that if you press the TC button and it is switched off ,ie light permenently on, then when you get to 40mph it would switch the TC back on again automaticly, ie light off. mine has TC but I can not switch it off, strange really a car with a3.2 v6 and the TC is on all the time. What we need is someone with "switchable" TC to try switching the TC off and driving over 40 mph and tell us if their TC light goes out. It will be interesting to find out.

Hi Tony, it is a bit confuseing, I would have thought that if the car went above 40mph and you had switched the TC off before you started off[light on] it would go off automaticaly as mentioned before, so in theory I would have said the light would go off too. With mine if I "boot it" in the wet the light on the dashboard [skidding car symbol] will flicker, that is when the wheels are spinning, then when the light is not on the wheels are getting full grip. how do you know that the wheels are able to spin when you are doing over 40mph, if the light is on I would say the TC is off no matter what speed you are doing, but according to the book it should switch back on at 40mph and above. hope some of this makes sence to you.

all i can add is when i had TC 'off' at santa pod, i had wheelspin to over 50mph..ON THE SPOT!!!

it didn't seem to kill the revs or try to stop the spin at all..it was only when the tyres bit that it actually went off the line.
