    Default What have i done!

Hi all-WHAT HAVE I DONE?-well i've sold my trusty passat 130tdi sport(02)estate and bought a vectra 150 cdti auto elite estate(06)on a 55 plate.Am i mental or what?-It seems i might be!The passat i bought 5 yrs ago with 100k on it and (apart from a belt and water pump)i've never had a minutes trouble in the 50k we put on it-returning a steady 48mpg.

Now to my new ride-IT's stunning, with full leather and nearly every extra, sitting in a heated leather seat with cruse contol and a lazy man box is a great place to be-BUT(yeah there's a few but's)on the way home after picking up the car i noticed the temp guage on 70deg-got home and did sme digging(where i descovered this wonderful forum)mmmm common problem- new thermostat-£45 and an hours work and problem 1 sorted.

Reading this forum i desovered the inlet swerl fault,so i checked mine- sure enough the link bar is lying beside the flaps-so £180 manifold- may as well do the belt and pump at the same time,so £350 more.Car seems to be doing 35 mpg, which i suppose may improve with new manifold and valves/throttle etc cleaned .

Ive also descovered that auto's and estates have the dpf-so that's me stuffed!I just hope and prey that once i've sorted ALL these 'common faults' i'll have the car i thought i was buying. So what do you think -Am i mad or what?

After getting that lot sorted you will not regret it. do a search for your faults as they have all been covered by others on the forum. If anyone knows the fixes it will be the guys on here.

Its getting to the point that all modern diesels have dpf's so we may as well get used to them.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

did you buy from a stealer?? if so get him to fix the broken bits.........

If not then at least you'll know the car is right once you've done the bits needed.

there is a reason veccys are cheap but once the niggles are done they more than make up for the headaches when they start making you smile.

    welcome aboard :-)

All cars have issues, just be glad you bought an auto, no DMF to worry about. Might be worth checking if the 3rd injector wiring has been looked at.

    Seconded...

I've spent many hours under the car recently, done all the suspension (new shockers, bushes, the lot) and some engine work. It seriously drives like new (touch wood, undoubtably something will break tomorrow now I've said that!)
