    Default 1.8 Z18xe PO170

    Guys anyone help-had fault codes po130,po0030 and po170. Reset using obd scanner.Put air intake pipe back to standard long one behind rad now only getting po170. any ideas welcome

    Guys,

    Just wanted to add my success story on this subject.

    I have had error codes 0170 /0173 for a long time on my Vectra C 3.2. Have had the car at workshops several times. Went along with the first recommendation and replaced the MAF sensor. Error codes still on.
    Next rec was to replace the lambda sensors and the cat. Didn't really believed that could be the cause since the engine ran well, only noticable deviation was a high idle when warm, about 1400 +/- 200 rpm. Also noticed a very high fuel consumption with trailer attached or heavy load.
    Checked fuel pressure = ok. New air filter and cleaned the throttle = still error codes.
    Since i was having problem with lots of condensate in the oil I was checking the crank vent valve. Removed the top cover on the inlet manifold and noticed that the inner flaps (regulating the short/long tracts to the inner cylinder bank) was somewhat harder to move than the outer flaps. Cured it with some oil on the mechanism. Curious as i am i looked at the mechanism controlling the flaps. Found it to be vacuum controlled via a solenoid valve and a diaphragm for each bank.
    These diaphragms are connected to a T-piece with small rubber hoses. To my surprise i found that the single connecting hose to the T was hanging loose, routed slightly hidden under the inlet manifold.
    It took me half an hour to locate where it should be attached wich turned out to be a tiny connector hidden between two small steel pipes under the manifold. I realized that this might be the root cause for the error codes since it was an open air port straight into the manifold, an air leak bypassing the MAF!
    With the small hose and the top cover back in place i took the car for a test drive. Much smoother engine characteristics at low revs and stable idle at 600 rpm, period!
    After rebooting the ECU (disconnected battery for 30 min) and changed the MAF to the old one the error codes are gone.

    So my advice; check for air leaks before paying big bucks on parts!

    Someone needs a brand new MAF sensor?

    It was the MAF! Thanks everyone
    So a replacement used but genuine Opel/Siemens MAF arrived today.

    I fitted it in seconds and the problem is now fixed!!
    The car runs smooth again.

    I cleared all the Fault Codes on OP-COM and re-ran the diagnostics.
    MIL light is now off and diagnostics come up clean!

    Thanks to all who replied - especially merikiito who was spot on with his analysis!
