    Default which oil ?

    Hey guys

Can someone tell me which oil I need for the 1.9 CDTi 8v (120) (55 plate) vectra ?

I'm not sure if its got the DPF so I'm not sure if I need the Vauxhall GM 5w30 fully synth stuff or if I'd be better just with castrol 5w30 fully synth ?

The best deal all-round, in terms of quality and price, is Vauxhall's Dexos2 oil, suitable for petrol or diesel, DPF or non-DPF, IF you can buy it at Trade Club prices (the retail price is quite high).

if you're not on trade club the try 'the range' if you have one local as they do a 5w30 fully synth vx approved oil for 17quid for 5 litres- Its the next cheapest option to the trade club :-)
vx retail price for the oil is about 50quid IIRC :-o

    Cheers.
Do they sell it all year round ?
I just had a look on their website and couldn't find any motor oil at all.
There is one of their stores local to me though so I can go there no problem.
Is ebay not to be considered as there seems to be some decent priced oil on there ?? and is this stuff on these links the right one ?

Was just in at VX in Edinburgh for an oil filter. Guy a the parts desk asked me if I needed oil so asked him how much for 5lt of Dexos2, £15.99 + vat. I said that's a good price and bought 1, he told me he sells it at trade card price all the time, if he sold it at the VX retail price he'd never sell any, £47+vat, LOL.

main dealers are rate robbing gits aint they. think i'll try the range tomorrow if they dont have any i'll get some dexos 2 stuff off ebay, around the 20 quid mark sounds fair to me with free express delivery..

Is the VX recommended stuff they sell at range really as good quality as the vx main dealer stuff ?

Some a better than others ive found. Some i've been to wince and squirm the minute you bring out the trade club card and you get the feeling the discount is coming straight out the guy at the parts desks wallet. Others are great and you dont even have to ask for trade discount. I think some realise a lot of their parts are very expensive and are just happy to get the sales.

I think "Vauxhall recommended" is too strong a term, more like it meets GM's long-life standard, but lots of oils do that, and it doesn't mean that all such oils are of the same quality, some (e.g. Dexos2, Mobil1) are better than others.
