The small oval gaskets will do (150 or 120) and fit from the exhaust inlet pipe to the EGR (either/both places on the 120).

Bit of coke can and a 8mm hole works as well as anything you can buy.

Coke cans burn through in time, and a 8mm hole what for? There is no point doing it if you're going to put a hole in it. Either blank it or leave it.

    Buy a Fiat plate/gasket.

    worth the pennies ...

This one´s for the 150 version, (cost-me about 4 gbp) but there´s an oval plate for the 120. Ask a Fiat/Alfa Romeo dealer or search this forum for references and number parts.

You need the small hole to avoid getting the warning light on. Also helps increase the air flow speed moving through the valve slowing down the build up of soot. Wonder why the OEM supplier for the engine started using the same method. Kindly pictured above

Coke can on my 2.6 v6 has lasted 2 years without issue and that thing gets a lot hotter and more abuse than my cdti.

Ask yourself why people blank them, and then whether these 'restrictor' gaskets will do the same job? OEM went down this route due to the number of EGR failures, but why do only Fiat do them, and not VX, or Saab?

If you want to rid the effects of the EGR then it needs to be fully blanked - yes you will get the emissions light, but so what, better than the alternative.

As for material, at the end of the day its upto the individual what they use, but for the sake of £4 off ebay, is it worth the risk?

I agree that you should either blank it or not, not much point in restricting the flow with a smaller diameter hole, the crap is still getting into the enngine. Blanking the EGR is a very popular mod on motorbikes, its much simpler there though as a lot of them dont have ECU control of that....

I blanked mine last night, 57 plate 150 CDTi, and so far (70 miles) I havent had the EML come on...... I bet it will now I've said that.... I'm booked in for a remap on friday though so if it does it will soon be gone!
