Default I bought with my head. Now is it time to follow my heart....

I bought my 2008 1.8 vvt Sri veccy with my head. A sensible, reliable, slightly sporty (?!?!) family car. I love it to pieces, the colour really sets it off for me.

However, for years I've had a crush on another girl..... An impreza WRX. (don't shout at me!). I don't know what it is about them ive just always liked em'. Im certainly no boy racer or yob. A few years back I promised myself I would have one someday.

....I've seen one local to me. It's a 53 plate WRX in the right blue with 55k on the clock, 10 services in the book, prodrive exhaust and back box and the all important tracker. Up for £3.5k

Now I reckon I could get it for a near enough straight swap and the insurance on it is now much more affordable now I am older.

I know I could get myself a Vxr ex-police etc etc for similar money but i cant justify over £400 for tax! this one looks well looked after and unabused.

I just don't know what to do. Do I live the dream or carry on dreaming the dream???? These shape cars will be gone forever soon.....

    Your thoughts......

I'd love one, and want to swap towards the end of the year. I keep looking at them but im like you thinking with my head and writing off the idea due to the money side of things... I'd say if you can afford it, go for it

Go for it, if the numbers stack up then why not. If my finances were a bit healthier than they were I would still be in a Vec but it wouldn't be a 1.8 petrol that's for sure!

i considered one before buying the vec. in fact i considered most cars.

95% of quotes i did were about £600 ish, the impreza was £1300. that put me off tbh.

    they do sound lovely tho

I wanted one a few years back, always yearned after one, till I drove one (and other hot hatches at the time - Leon Cupra R, Megane 225 et al) and I didn't buy one (went for the LCR), I still like the look of them, and the sound but for its performance (and lets be honest thats why you buy them) there is better out there. In saying that, the above was when they were much more than £3.5K!
