Default CDTI 150 No low down power.

    Hi Folks,

Wondering if you can help with my issue.

Just picked up a new CDTI 150 as put my last one into a tree at 70 bending it slightly. The new one does not have any low down power. Anything under 2800 rpm there is no boost then all of a sudden it will fly off just on 3000 rpm.

The car I have just got has had massive amounts of work recently so not sure what the issue could be.

So far its had new intake manifold and motor, new egr, flywheel, thermostat, glowplugs, glowplug relay, wiper motor etc.

Checked the boost pipes and all ok. EGR is clean and operates via tech2 fine. glowplugs working ok. tested and come on for 30 seconds and turn off.

One thing I have noticed is the turbo makes like a feint police siren type noise at about 1400 rpm for a second then goes. When the boost comes it stutters first then blasts off.

Guessing the turbo may be goosed. If so how can i tell or test or any other ideas. Have been searching like mad but everyone seems to have fixed there issues with above fixes but mine is still sick.

Boost controller? - Cleaned and when checking on Tech 2 it appears to be working.

Checked and fixed. One small hole in one of the L bends but no fine i thinks...... Can hear it dropping suction on removal of the pipe. Will check if I have then on the correct way around tho lol.

What year is your new CDTi? Some require software updates for new EGR's....

Also check your injectors.. Ive seen the '3rd injector' common issue cause hesitation at low revs... Have you had the plug done?

Along with that TIS field remedy there is indeed a Software update. Had it on mine and it made a big difference to pickup.

Its had the 3rd injector changed. Got the blue plug over the yellow.

Its a 55 plate. I say new as my last one was a preface and new one is a facelift...

EGR activates via tech2 fine and is extremely clean. Must be only a few k old max. Boost valve was a bit gunked up but cleaned and when viewing on tech2 can see the readings increase with RPM but only really low upto 3k then the readings jump up massively.

It is not running rough. Just lacks any boost low down.

I would disconnect the EGR electrical connector and take it for a spin and see if there is any difference. Nothing can sometimes beat a real live driving trial. You will get the spanner and emissions warnings lights but these could be cleared with a code reader or will eventually go away on their own account after re-connecting the EGR to the electrical system.
I have read somewhere that new EGR valves sometimes require an ECU S/W update but am unsure how true this is. Good luck

Tried a run without the EGR connected and also blocked off and no change. After a load of cleaning and checking yesterday after testing the egr I got an intake air leak error so guess thats next to check out. Cleared the code and went for a drive and its not come back but car still well under boosting low down.
