    Default Insignia pics.

After spending the weekend detailing the car to within an inch of her life I thought I'd take a drive up the Elan Valley & take some pics for everyone at my two favourite forums: vectra-c.com & insignia-enthusiast.org

First of all, my last car (06 Signum 3.0V6 CDTi Elite Nav) taken a couple of years ago.

And today, the 09 Insignia 2.0T 4x4 Elite Nav taken in pretty much the same place.

Whats the 2.0 4x4 like to live with? Expensive to run or not too bad?
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Despite an enormous list of warranty niggles I really love it.

I thought the power steering was a little on the light side when I first got it but you get used to it & it stiffens up anyway in sport mode.

The Adaptive Forward Lighting is great - I don't know how I ever managed without it! The 4WD sticks to the road like glue - I doubt I'll ever find its handling limit on public roads. I wouldn't mind visiting a private track to explore its limits though!

It can be a comfortable mile-muncher but the sport button & FlexRide turn it in to an altogether wilder animal - as well as turning the instrument dials RED.

The down side is fuel consumption. The book figures are 20mpg town, 29 combined & 39 on a run. Real life figures are more like 26 to 28 on a run and 20 to 21 average.

    It's a brilliant towing car but attach a caravan & expect 17mpg.

At least for me the mpg isn't too bad - I only do 5 to 6 thousand miles a year. If you were covering twice that distance you'd start to feel the pinch.

There are several remaps out there. From standard 220bhp, Regal claim to be able to squeeze it up to 310 bhp whilst the Thorney/Superchips published power curve peaks at 267 bhp & 424 Nm.

What 2.0T does this run then? Is it a Saab variant or is it closer related to to the Astra 2.0 VXR, LEH iirc?

Maverick posted this back in May '09:

"The 2.0 Turbo engine in the Insignia has most in common with the Vectra 2.0 C turbo Z20 NET. It is an L850 engine that is common with the Redline series in the States. its designator is A20NHT ( A is Euro 5)"
However, my understanding (although I may be wrong) is that the Thorney/Superchips remaps for both Insignia & Astra 2.0T are pretty similar.
