I have an 07 plate 1.9cdti zafira and over the past 4 months I have had a hell of a time with it. Over christmas the turbo broke down and dumped oil into the intake so i had a recon turbo fitted. But due to the amount of oil and smoke the front cat got heavly blocked up resulting in the front cat having to be drilled out, also do to sluggish acceleration the garage also put ablanking plate on the EGR which has made the car drive a dream however I think the above problem has also affected the DPF
So I'm Looking into having the dpf mapped out.
I have made an observation over the last 3 days.. the car regens every 25miles and it regens for about 10miles..That is silly behaviour and costing me a fortune in diesel as the ave consumption is 31mpg instead of a reasonable 40-45mpg.
I have read somewhere that a dpf blocks up 1% per mile so that works out at 25%....so if a regen kicks in at 80% saturation then after the regen the dpf must go down to 55% then in 25miles time it blocks up again and regens. its ridiculous
But the most annoying and embarrassing thing is how it goes about it regen, I would be driving along ok then at a juntion the car would be surrounded by greyish blueish smoke there really is alot and the instant consumption would read 0.5 - 0.7 gal/hour this smoke would be really bad and smell and fill the road up behind me this would last for about 5 miles then after the smoke has stopped the car then will idle at 1.2 gal/hour and really stink but doesn't smoke after 5-10 more miles the car will go back to normall @ 0.2 gal/hour at idle and no smoke. 25 miles down the road it will do it all again.
I have had a flashing glowplug permanently on the dash for the past week and it hasn't gone out yet!
