Wink 2.0 DTI Glow plug broken :(((((

    Hi peeps,

As today she was due to service i went to the garage. Overall, it was great but what`s best comes to the end.
Surprise, surprise...i have a broken glow plug, it`s something like a hole where it was supposed to be. The mechanic told me that the glow plug is broken and it somewhere inside the engine. He tried to explain to me what is must be done but it`s like explaining to a small child what is the atom (maybe he would be better then me).
Now, the painful part: If i drive like this and comes out, i may end up in the middle of the road with no compression (right) .....and if take it off i understand that is risky.

What would you do if you were me ? Leave it there and when it wants to come out just have a glow plug handy with a key...or take it off, in long terms what`s the worst it could happen if i don`t remove it ?

The car is 03 plate, 2.0 DTI ELITE .

    Thanks a lot guys !!!!

Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

Head will need to come off to get if it's dropped in cylinder?

I definatly wouldn't be driving it. as you risk major engine bore/ piston/ valve/ head damage.

So what it's just snapped and stuck in place?

Are you sure the garage didn't break it today?

I was there, i have the tendency to put my nose everywhere and i saw as the mechanic just took the cap of the glow plug and he said : Teo, you don`t have any glowplug in there. What you`ve done ? As he knows me that i would`nt go in and change the glow plugs (i didn`t know how they look like until today) (i`m a hairdresser) . I drove the car from the garage today, all ok, no problem.....he told me that thursday i sould get the car there and leave it for a day becuz it`s a long job to take the plug off (something that involves drilling....)... oh no ..... (((

I'd be very surprised if it's been duff for the past 6 months. You'd have noticed surely.

If part of the plug has broken off and dropped down it would have made a serious racket and likely would have caused serious damage to the cylinder/valves etc.

Will more than likely be broken but still in the head. It can be removed without removing the head. Here are videos on youtube showing the special tools required.
