    confused N/S Front Subframe mount

    Hi

Is it normal to be able to lift the front passenger side subframe mount up a good 10mm. With the car on the ground I can prise at the bottom of this mount where the metal plate is with the bolt. I can lift it up a good 10mm and I don't know if this is right or not. The drivers side is slightly tricky to prise on but doesn't move much anyway. If it's not normal then maybe I can lift it up with some washers.

That doesn't sound good , have you looked to see if the bolt is tight

There should be no movement in the subframe , have you had any work done like a clutch etc

I haven't had any work done that needed to go anywhere near there. I did find that bolt loose about 9 months ago. I torqued it back up but never prised it or noticed anything odd. I do have a slight soft knock over rough roads that seems to of been with me for the last 5 years. It's the only thing left that isn't new.

I've been trying to find any other pictures around this area to compare with but not had much joy. I found a picture in one of the howtos but the subframe seemed different to mine!. Anyone got a picture or do you think that this looks normal.

    Thanks.

Can you take a photo from a little further away, so we can see where that is in relation to other components?

There should be no play in it bud. I just changed my flywheel and removed the bolt in question. Was well tight and had no play in the subframe. Is the bush in one piece and is the big washer there at the bottom. Might be the bolt is sitting on the rubber working its way into the rubber ????

I took this photo with the bumper on, I'll get another picture further away but will have to take the bumper off first. The picture was taking by peeking around the front of the passenger tyre if thats any help.

The big washer is there and the bolt is very tight, I can see the bolt goes all the way up through the big washer and bush and pops out in the chassis, there seems to be a built in self holding nut up in there that the bolt goes into. There is no sidewards movement at all, just movement up and down when I pry on the bolt head and against the subframe.

You can see on the picture that there is rubber at the top and bottom, not sure if thats the norm or if somethings gone wrong.

I had time over the weekend to lower the front of the subframe and check both bushes either side. Both bushes are rock solid, with no splits etc. Put it all back togeather and torqued up the bolts and it looks exactly as it did before.

The rubber lip at the bottom and top of the bush looks like it should be there and it still has a little up/down movement. There is no sidewards movement at all.

I'd be intrested to see someone elses. Has anyone got a photo of their front subframe to chassis. Similar photo to the one I posted earlier.

    Many thanks

Has anyone got a photo of their front subframe mount that I can use to compare with. I don't want to change unless I really have to. Thanks
