Default Brought used vectra Sri 1.9cdti 2006 what could be wrong???

    blue smoke
hi could anyone give me some advice brought a used vectra estate sri cdti (150) at the weekend drove it home and was very pleased with it.
Took it out today and was shocked to see blue smoke coming out the rear, I managed to turn back and get it home, whilst this was happening the car still drove and felt the same as before. I called the garage I brought it from and took it back for him to look at. The whole drive back went without a fault no blue smoke nothing!!! Still pulled really well and drove like a dream, the car is with him now for his mechanic to check over Monday.
Could this be the dpf cleaning itself as performance hasnít changed and feels like a really responsive car.
Iím also worried as I have the spanner symbol on the dash with the outline of the car on it, as I said it drives really well as Iíve drove a couple of these cars this one feels on a par or better. The manual says it may be residual water in fuel filter?
Any help with this would be appreciated

Blue smoke is burning oil mate.

How long did the blue smoke last? If its only after start up for short time more than likely valve stem seals

Spanner = need the codes read mate - only real way to tell whats up with it. ensure that the mechanic does this and ask what the codes were (stored or present etc)

    - saw it on Wheeler Dealers with a Sapphire Cosworth, blue smoke just on start-up.

Did watch some of The Garage, but as a people-manager myself I was shocked how bad at it Jock was... e.g. having that bald geordie as his "favourite-who-can-do-no-wrong", and giving no training to the female apprentices and then he'd whine when they got sick of sweeping the floor and then left.

    Anyway, back on topic...lol.

could it be the DPF doing a regen, maybe the smoke was not as blue as you think?

    whats the mileage?
Lois Griffin: Peter! You're bribing your daughter with a car?
Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
