Default Vetra cdti 120 won't start from key

    Hi Folks
Vectra cdti 120 (2004) will not start off the key either hot or cold, battery is fine it turns over normally but will not fire, however it will bump start no problem, once running it's fine until you switch it off again even if only for 5 seconds, had the codes read and it comes up with :-
P0002 Fuel Metering Solenoid Valve Circuit Range/Performance
P0090 Rail Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Range/Performance (Positive Deviation)
A friend suggested the high pressure pump weak?
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

is that the one on the back of the high pressure pump or the one in the rail? Live data in opcom shows 12-13MPa when cranking, desired pressure is 30.00MPa,
    thanks

It will be on the back of the pump.
As meters the amount of fuel sent.

What pressure do you have once it's running?

Can you read engine rpm whilst cranking?

Also are them readings rail pressure?

Think ideally you could do with an actual pressure gauge being plumbed into various parts to confirm pressure.

You could try shorting the pump to earth when cranking to see if that makes it start.
This will prove is pump is able to produce enough pressure.

    Default

yes that's the common rail pressure, will check tomorrow what the rpm is whilst cranking (it's turning plenty fast enough to start it), when you say "short" the pump to earth, how would i do that?
    thanks,
    dave
