    Default Glow plug light

    i have a vectra 2.0 dti 2002 how long should my glow plug light stay on for mine stays on for about 2 secs in the moring when cold other then that not at all

    Sounds about right mate. My old 2.2DTI (2002, 52 reg) stayed on for about 2-3 seconds max, and that was at minus 10 outside in the winter. Never saw the light in the summer months, even in the mornings. Car always started immediatley

    just thought it might be faulty glow plugs as my car is smoking(white/grey smoke) alot on first startup and cold last till engine gets warm then no smoke

    Does it start ok from cold? If so, just give it a good service

    yeah starts fine mate no problems apart from the cloud of white smoke lol

    Start by changing the air filter and fuel filter (fuel system will then need bleeding). Personally I'd do the oil and oil filter at the same time

    EDIT >> and check all the vac pipes for splits / perishing

    From cold, that won't be smoke then

    White/grey could be unburnt fuel.
