I have unpluged the EGR valve of my diesel and wonder if it will fail its MOT if I put it in like this i.e. emissions warning light illumintated or does this not matter for diesels?

it will if it fails the emissions test , the light could be an electrical fault in their eyes but will test it anyway ,

There seems to be mixed views on this. As far as I can see, it is only certain warning lights that would cause an MOT failure after 1st April this year e.g. ABS, Airbag, Tyre pressure warning etc but I have found no mention of the emmissions light being a failure.

    Anyone?

eek, the car is parked with the handbrake on, and the warning light comes on; fail
Presumably the wording refers to permanent warning lights, not under control of the driver

The one noone seems to know about is the glowplug warning light
As it may come on, and stay on, is this a fail?
However, on some cars it will flash for some time
As mentioned before, can see there being confusion and misunderstandings over this

This is rather concerning as I think this tester has misinterpreted the rules AFAIKS.

I thought it was only brake, airbag, tyre pressure related warning lights this new rule applied to.

    Any others have a view?

am a tester and it is nearly any light thats on the dash will be a fail

only one we test at the min is the abs light
but next month will be abs air bag engine light eps trc and all teh otehr names under the sun lol

but is anything to do with the brakes ie pad warning low fuild warning
    electric power steering tracion control

but have remeber some car makes have different lights to others but meen the same
like the renaults use the coil plug light as a engine light sometimes

but on are vt40 check list it should come up on there what lights to check ect

there is going to be a lot of cars going to fail in april my fail rate is going to go sky high with engine lights and air bag lights
