Default Mpg for the sri cdti (120)??

Hi all. After reading some posts on here about poor MPG for the SRI 1.9 CDTI(120) version. I thought id have a go to see how much i got out of my car. Put £80 in.(range had just hit 0) So at £1.44p a litre, that gave me 55.55 litres. Not 100% sure, but i think it gave me a range of 600 miles(or thereabouts). Reset the mileage counter on the dash, and a week later when range hit 0. The mileage i had covered was 528 miles. Which was 70+ miles under the estimated range. So worked it out at 43.25 mpg. Which i thought was ok, as ive read on some who get only the top end of 30??. 38mpg. I travel 400 miles a week on the motorway, and most of the time its cruise control at 80mph, and do occasionally hit 90mph.(dont tell anyone) So in theory, if i did travel at 70mph on the motorway then i guess my mpg at the end of the week would be at the high end of the 40s as specified by Vauxhall. I would say i'll try and drive 70mph to work and back to test this. But to be honest, its rather hard to drive 40miles on the motorway bang on 70mph.
    Any thoughts on this?

Sounds about right, the wife gets 570 miles roughly out of a full tank.

Morning, i do 40 miles each way to work, 90% on dual carriageways or mways. Cc'd @ 70 i get 49mpg normally.

I don't get much chance to get above 70 so stick to that and never accelerate above 2.5k rpm.

I did it at 60mph one week, but felt this was uncomfortably slow, got 55mpg though.

Thats how much i do. 40 miles eachway. So if i ease off the pedal, i should hit the high 40s. How come some only get high 30s then? Is it to do with the EGR, etc....

I only got high 30's until i replaced thermostat, cleaned egr and throttle body too. Millers fuel additive at every tankful seems to help a little, although maybe placebo.

I regularly (almost always) use supermarket fuel too, which some claim gives less fuel economy.

Ive had a new EGR VALVE and THERMOSTAT, only a month into my warranty. Didnt get a chance to check the mileage per week, as the car was in the garage most of the time!
Plus i always use supermarket fuel. Missus nags that we wont get much vouchers every quarter otherwise

I have been doing 60 odd mile each way to Birmingham airport and back, all motorway, and for the return journey I get 50mpg at 70mph.
Not too shabby for a 3.0!
I don't go above 2k rpm and use the cruise speed adjustments for overtaking etc but I always drop back ASAP to 70.

a heavy foot costs the mpg big time. if you take it eaiser you'll save a fortune on juice. I'd cry if I got less than 50 doing your kind of journeys.
