    Default Tuning box

I have a 2.2 DTI and want a little extra grunt but dont really want to fork out £500 or so on a decent remap

I only use the car for work and running the kids about so dont see the point in spending loads of money but would happily part with £100 or so on a tuning box

Problem is my car has a 120k on the clock is this too much to be considering a tuning box?

    What's your thoughts???

Personally, if you fit a cheap box, you're asking for trouble. In the simplest terms all the cheaper ones are is a box of resistors or a rheostat to alter the voltage to the ECU... very agricultural.

I've fitted a CRD2 box to my 1.9, which isn't available for yours i know, but that is as basic as I'd be willing to fit to my car and it's pretty well engineered with varying maps for different power deliveries and power% settings.

The amount of miles on your car has little to do with tuning, in fact it's better to have more miles on the clock than less, within reason of course. As long as it's electrically and mechanically sound, it will accept power and torque increases within the design specification.

I would leave the cheap boxes well alone, put the money aside over a few months, and if you still want the power increase buy a decent box, if not, spend it on other mods

Hi guys, ino its a month old this thread but i'v got a tuning box on my vec 2.2 dti sri, its The Diesel Tuning Uk VP-T, people sell them on ebay all the time so keep an eye out for one, and my cars running at 157bhp with around 350lbs of toruqe, its worth the money as iv made my money back in 3months on motor way runs, getting around 10mpg more locally and 10-20 more on motor way runs depending on driving style , so its worth buying one in my eyes
