Smile what are the downsides of electrically disconnecting EGR valve on the 150 CDTi

    All,
after suspecting my EGR valve causing dire driving performance recently, I disconnected the electrical connector from it and 100 miles on with connector disconnected, it is performing fantastically again. Therefore pinpointing the culprit as the EGR valve.

My question is, with the EGR electrically disconnected, apart from the emissions light illuminated and engine running slightly hotter and not as friendly to the environment, what are the other downsides of running it like this e.g. will it cause an excess to gas pressure to blow other items such as turbo or intercooler or gaskets or is it pretty harmless to run indefinately like this? Thoughts please.

    thanks
