    Default Ipod/iphone connectivity

Need to connect my ipod & iphone to my existing stereo.

Had this sort of thing in my old BMW (can see the cradle on the left hand side of the stereo) & it'd allow you to play through the stereo & change tracks through the steering wheel as well as through the ipod (if that makes sense)

Looking for the same sort of thing for the Sig but must tick these boxes:

    • Use existing headunit
    • Play Iphone & Ipod
    • Charge at the same time (why i dislike aux in's)
    • Show the track details on the head unit
    • Change track through the stereo controls
    • Connect to iphone so i can speak handfree

Big ask.....but there must be something out there.

    Cheers!

Not going to happen mate. Parrot is the only way I'm afraid and that won't work with controls. Only way to do that is get an aftermarket HU.

Cheers guys - which will cater for both my iphone & Ipod?

If anything i'm happy to discard charging & playing through the stereo controls.

    Cheers...

iPod=iPhone (after the 2nd generation anyway). The circuit boards are the same, apart from the iPods not having the radio transmitter/receiver. The interface and connectors are the same.

Halfords have got a nice Philips headunit in at the moment for £80 which will charge and control an iPod/iPhone from the headunit. I put on in my wife's car last weekend

However- there are no steering wheel interfaces for Philips headunits, so something by JVC, Sony or Kenwood would be a better bet if you choose to go down the new headunit route.

Parrot (e.g. Mki9200) will play and charge the device that's plugged in (say the iPod), it will play iPhone music via bluetooth, it will connect for calls via bluetooth, they will all be controllable from the parrot remote. In this config the iPhone will not charge - but car chargers are easy to get. Track info will show on the parrot display, not the existing head unit. A parrot unika accessory will give you steering wheel control but I have not tried that.
