    Default Just back from Crufts...

So, me and the missus have just got back from exhibiting two of our dogs at Crufts. We show chihuahuas and had a dog and ***** with us today.

Perry - our boy, was placed 1st in limit dog then in the challenge he got the Reserve CC!

Pandora - our *****, was placed 2nd in her class which is great as we wasn't expecting anything atall.

And I got to take the siggy on a proper run to NEC and was very pleased with the fuel consumption

Well done. Great results in a popular breed like that. Last year we got two 1st in class (and almost RCC, just beaten by a Czech entry) for our 'girl dog', and a 2nd and reserve for our dog on their first year of showing. We have Smooth Collies, the two young ones plus an older one who we don't show as he's getting on a bit.

We're not going this year as our 'girl dog' is in season. Qualified and paid for entry, but it's not worth the trip down with just one dog when he should be concentrating on making puppies. Still, qualifying for Crufts isn't a problem in a numerically small (vulnerable, British) breed like ours so there's always next year. It's just a shame to miss out on seeing all our friends in the breed.

I have to admit that we tend to go in the Pajero, not the Vectra, as two Smooth Collies are a bit big for a Vectra hatchback. I knew I should have got an estate

Well done. We have two beardies but don't show them. Their mum is a show dog but their dad is a proper farm working beardie in Fife.

    Thanks guys, were pleased.

Well done for getting her qualified rich r, like you said though it isn't worth taking a girl when she is in season.

Perry got his stud book number last year so we don't have to worry about getting him qualified every year which is a relief.

That's where the siggy comes in handy! A big factor in me picking one was because of the folding rear seats so it has enough space for a travel cage

Heh - there's rarely more than 6 or 7 dogs in a class with Smooth Collies, so your chances of qualifying are generally pretty high. We should be there today, but will have to content ourselves with Facebook posts, texts and tweets from friends there, and see if by some miracle Smooths appear on the TV coverage tonight.

Two soft crates (big enough for Smooths) will just fit in the Vectra hatch's boot - but the boot won't shut because the wiper motor lump sticks out too far. We've searched for crates that are 2cm less tall, but they just don't exist. We have used the Vectra a few times (in fact we went to the LKA show at the NEC last year in it), but end up putting one crate on the back seats.

It's a pity really, as my Dual Fuel Vectra does over 300 miles to about £25. Whereas my wife's Pajero does about 150 miles for that.
