    Default Brake Pads

What brake pads would people recommend for my preface 1.8 SRi? I have whatever were put in by the previous owner and I'm not massively impressed with them, although they're not awful either. I have the standard brakes and don't realy want to go down the route of bigger brakes?

I think a lot of the members favour the original gm pads. I prefer the big branded ones such as mintex or green stuff etc.

Do the Mintex or Green Stuff ones perform any better in your experience?

GM do two types of pads, the ones that come from factory and the pads you get in the disk and pad kit, the latter are very poor IMO. Personally I always go for Mintex OE pads, the bite is great and for £20 you cant go wrong. Part number MDB2262

Just put mintex on mine last weekend, front and back, They dont half bite when you need to stop in a hurry!

much better then the previous pads which had the "GM" logo on the back and was still over half the pad left.

Mintex all round on my Signum.. the vec will be getting the same this summer when i get round to it.. Low dust and a good bite, no complaints at all.. I did try Pagid once, after two weeks I took them out and chucked them in the bin, they were high dust and made my wheels black in no time at all..

Are you sure about that, as the list they use has the same part number
When I visited the dealership they brought the box for the pads first, there were no separate pads for the dual (pads and discs) kit
The difference is in the part number for the dual kit, as that then brings up the discounted price

The parts person then tried to work out why the kit was cheaper than the discs!
"er, buy two discs and you get the pads free, that's odd"

I've got Mintex on mine at the minute but will be changing back to GM ones as they seem to be a poor fit in the caliper, giving me a clunking under braking which doesnt sound great
