    Default GSi Crankshaft Sensor Question

Been having trouble with my Vectra GSi recently throwing up the steering wheel fault symbol, TC light and indicators not self cancelling. But going to the shops at the weekend it cut out about six times.

Just had a mate round with an Opcom code reader, it's showing a fault with the CIM and crankshaft sensor.

Need to know where the sensor is and will it need changing or just a clean and a bit of WD40.

    Any help appreciated.

Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Trim : Basic

    Engine : 1.6 16v

    Year : 2003

    Default

Not sure were it's located on that engine.

But best just changing it. Make sure it's a genuine sensor aswel.

As aftermarket ones can throw just as many problems as a dodgy one

Yeah was hoping for a quick fix, car's off road now as it's unsafe to drive. Cost me a load to get it through the MOT in December and now these problems. Could be a money pit. Was thinking about px it but online valuation sites recon it's worth a grand.

You might be able to take it out clean it with some contact cleaner and it be ok.

Well after a bit of research found out it's under the oil filter. Fitted a new one and now car runs fine.
