    Default Vectra C fascia adapter?

Has anyone fitted a single din head unit in a vectra C?

If so where did you get the fascia adapter from as the Autoleads ones from halfords are quite bright silver when the dash is more of a gun metal grey

    thanks

It's all personal taste fella, but if you want my opinion single dins just look wrong in the Vec C, a nice reasonably flush double din suits the car and looks good.

This is mine for example (Alpine IVA-W505R).

    Oohhh I like that

Think I may go for double din then if I can find one with a rear mounted usb, Bluetooth and hopefully put up the display on the GID

Not many units give the display on the GID, some Alpine units do, but you have to buy an additional £100 adaptor which does the steering controls and display screen (got it in mine). As you can see from above though the limitation is it only uses the top left hand half of the screen (the track name scrolls across occasionally to view it all) as the top right is used for other information with a factory unit. I asked Alpine about this and they said there was nothing they could do because of the way the GID's work.

Only issue with the good Alpine double dins is other bits tend to be extra modules. The head unit above cost me £700 and plays DVDs/CDs/MP3s etc, has radio of course, USB input (I have a 250GB hard drive on mine), low speed ipod connectivity (high speed module is extra) etc as standard.

Adding other parts is extra. I currently have the integrated hand held Satnav unit (PMD-B200P) which slots inside the headunit or can be carried around like a TomTom One, this also gives bluetooth mobile phone access but costs about £350, alternatively you can buy a seperate bluetooth unit. I've also fitted the Alpine digital terrestrial TV (freeview) box which again is another £250-£300 so as you see it can notch up.

A lot of people are fitting the cheaper Xtrons units from Ebay and seem to give good reports, they tend to come with everything all built in, but I have my doubts of the comparison between the two as I believe you get what you pay for with stuff like this, but it all depends on your budget and what you actually want to achieve.
