Happened to me about 2 years back, During summer we keep the back door open, we live in middle of a field and woodland. Heard some russtling in the kitchen, so i shut all doors thinking a rat had some in.

Noticed it was a ferrit, Tame as anything! Manage to get past 3 dogs, and into thekitchen some how, We kept it whilst looking for its owner, and god they STINK! Had a huge run for it, cleaned it out twice and the usual care for them.

In the end we had to rehome, as owner wasnt round. But they are great for putting down a rabbit hole
