    Default Windscreen getting replaced tomorrow

    An insurance jobbie.

I was just wondering how likely they are to do it spot on? They asked whether it was just the simple screen with no rain sensor, or did it have the sensor (which it does). This rang alarm bells. If this isn't a simple screen to fix, what are they likely to screw up?

If it has sensors, just make sure they show you them working after fitting. Autoglass are usually pretty good

had mine done about a year ago , spot on i even phoned the company to praise the fitter as he did a brilliant job

one thing i did myself though was to remove the wipers and the scuttle as the scuttle part that clips onto the bottom of windscreen is easily broken

Testing the light sensors should be easy - just cover it up and lights should come on. How do you test the rain sensor?

As for the scuttle tray - I may remove this beforehand, and give it a good clean while I am there ;-) . I would never have thought to remove it, thanks.

They asked about rain sensors as it's a totally different screen depending on weather it does or doesn't have the sensors. Did they ask about the tint strip too?

No mention of tint stri. Mine doesn't have one at the minute. Here's hoping they bring an uprated screen! I doubt it though they seem to only replace like for like they say.

They say that but the fitters don't care... Ring em and say its a tinted top, they will fit what ever they bring...

Had mine done by Autoglass, they got it spot on except when he put the bond onto the windo and placed it back on the car, he pressed it that hard that the bond spread over my VIN number thats supposed to be visible in the bottom LHS corner of the windscreen, been stopped twice now (Spot check) and they have went to town on my car because of this , so watch

Testing the light sensors should be easy - just cover it up and lights should come on. How do you test the rain sensor?

Just get a hose and spray some water on the windscreen, but you have to wait until the bonding has set. The fitter will advise on this.

Ring em and say its a tinted top, they will fit what ever they bring...

Did the same thing myself, tinted strip fitted no problem.
