    Vehicle : Vectra

    Trim : Design

    Engine : 1.8 VVT ( No2 ! )

    Year : 2007

    Mileage : ... 293 k

    Default 1.6 / 1.8 VVT Engine

Can someone confirm that these are essentially the same engine ?

Looking at cam locking tools on the internet. Many adds specify 'for 1.6' but it looks like the same OEM number - KM6340 is applicable to my 1.8 VVTi

Perfectly happy to tackle the belt - did several on my old Cavalier 2.0 16V Eco, but just want to make sure I have the right tools for the job - I once saw someone that didn't, and that was messy

    Wink

i done my timing belt and camshaft oil seals and crankshaft oilseal on my z18xer and it turned into a nitemare so be very carefull as the cam pulleys dont have a woodruff key or locating pin on them like in a z18xe engine, so if you remove the pulleys off the camshaft, you will have to remove the cam cover and place a 4.5mm thick piece of flat metal across the camshafts to lock them in TDC POSITION, the haynes manual for 2005 to 2008 vectras shows you how to do this in more detail in section 2a.8
i would also reccommend you use the cam pulley locking tool that comes in 2 peices because of the lip on one of the pulleys, ebay item number 230532067670.
good luck and lets know how you get on.

Cheers - yep that's the tool I've gone for, the two part one.

Don't plan on removing the pulleys, so hopefully shouldn't be too much of a problem
