    Default comedy part ex value...

don't know whether to laugh or cry. called in a local dealer's earlier, they have a 06 sri 150 diesel in for £5k, very average example, 70000 miles, stunk of stale fags etc. asked them to value mine - an 05 reg 2.2 direct, 79000 miles, as nice as they're one, if not a bit nicer - what did the robbing git offer me? a grand! he's taking the michael. i voted with my feet & left.
i know bigger petrol engined cars aren't in demand now, but a grand!!!

You are probably better keeping your own car if there are no major problems with it. Even if he had offered you say £2,500 px by the time you factor in payments it would not be that much cheaper, if at all, than the running costs for the next year for your own car

no no, this wasn't a main dealer, it was a small arthur daley type car lot in northwich. his vectra had been there 2 months already, with his attitude it'll be there 2 years..

as alot a cabbies favour the 2.2 direct over the diesels so I cant imagine the running costs are much different when you factor everything in. dealers not only want to make a grand+ on what they sell you - they also want a monkey off the part ex. robbing gits. you did right walking away.

i would have funded the difference with savings - but not £4000! i use the car for my work, and my employers aren't very generous with the fuel allowance. i need to achieve 33mpg to break even - which i do with careful driving, the average mpg on the display is always around 38/39mpg. the car's going well, although has given me grief in the past.
