Hi there,
Im planing on doing a service on my car this weekend but was wondering wether I should put 5w/30 fully synthetic in or go for a 10w/40 semi.l, as my cars now covered 142,000 miles.
Thank you.

double AGAIN...
Personally on that mileage id use 10w40 and keep to 8-10k changes.
She doesn't burn oil or anything..but thought I'd ask as she's getting up there on the miles front. Lol
What's currently being used?
Whatever it is, then use the same to replace.
After all said and done, what's currently in there has done the engine proud, so why change to a different oil grade now.
I switched to 5w40 fully synth on the last change on my 182k mile 2.0dti as it gives good cold start and warm running protection and i dont have to choose between the 5w30 and 10w40 as i getting the best of both in one oil. as long as whatever you choose is B3/B4 rated it'll be all good.
I would be putting 10w 40 in
Thank you all.
Only reason y I thought put 10/40 in was that with the mileage it would protect the engine better and protect the internals.
Vauxhall recommend 5/30 but it thinner lol
