Talking Intrim service and was and a few pics

hi guys and gals, well after getting a silly price from dealer to do 3rd service (intrim service) i decided to just do it myself and sod the stamp in the book, ive had it serviced by dealers once a year and ive done a second oil and filter change every 6 month. but this time vx wanted £200. So thought i would take some pics as ive not posted any for a while.

so started by removing under tray

this was done at my dads house as i dont have a drive so the engine oil was nice and warm prior to draining down. heres some of the oil filter etc

heres my 32mm socket for oil filter

    old vs new

then new oil sump plug and washer, put a new plug in just as i had one so thought why not, re fitted new oil filter with two new o rings, then with my very expensive funnel i refilled with oil whilst checking dip stick.

so that was the oil change done, again i think the last oil change was by me just over 6-7 month ago.
now on to the air filter. vx wasnt going to replace this on the intrim service as they said its every two years. again this filter isnt 12 month old and its looking a tad dirty to me so i replaced this too.

old filter and dirty air box which was cleaned with hoover

then gave the car a snow foam with magifoam and a wash and a quick go over with autoglym aquawax, also gave the wheels a clean with new wheel brush and sealed again with autoglym wheel seal. also gave the engine bay a bit of a clean. when i get the time im going to spend a full day to give it a good clean polish wax etc, may even take wheels off and clean them inside etc. heres some after pics.

Well done mate its good to get some satisfaction when its all done and you start her up. I would have thrown a pollen filter and a fuel filter at it aswell though.

i checked the pollon filter and it was spotless so didnt think it was worth it. i did consider replacing the fuel filterbut im sure vx did it last year so didnt bother. will wait till next major maybe.
