Default Header/coolant tank - picture attached

    Hi all,

I have to top up my car with a litre of coolant every 4 to 6 weeks, I'd love to get the problem sorted. Timing belt and water pump done so it can't be that. I know many others have had this issue. I took a photo when I topped it up yesterday. Hopefully you can make out from the picture that there appears to be coolant along the "join" of the tank (not spilled by me, was there before topping up) - is this my problem? Would a new header tank solve the issue? Hope you can help!

Maybe you need new seals in the cap / new cap - they can go.

A hairline split at the rear is pretty common. A new tank is only around £20 from VX.

Thanks for the replies folks - think I'll give a new tank a shot!
