Default My rattle from cold now with fresh oil

Well as some of you may know I was getting a little rattle from cold in the mornings from my Z20NET 2007 Sri. The rattle from the engine area / chain area maybe only lasts a few seconds. I took it to Vauxhall last week for a service and oil change with engine flush. I asked them to check the tensioners and told them about the noise I was getting. Vauxhall had a look at my car and after the service they told me that the noise from any cam chain car is normal to rattle for a few seconds when cold, till the oil gets around the engine / chain. They wrote this on my recipt, and said customer was told noise on start up is normal for a cam chain car. No faults found.

Sounds like they've fobbed you off there tbh mate, its not normal for the chain to rattle on start up at all, any chain rattle is not good!

as for checking the tensioners, they would need to lock the cams in place to check the cam chain tensioner, then remove the timing chain cover at the side of the engine to check the balance chain tensioner, not a quick job which i doubt they would do during a oil change.

I had rattle on start-up, and so have others, which went away when replacing the chains and tensioners

Keep a hold of that receipt, its going to be very expensive for them if it breaks.

lol good point, least you have some proof that you've had it in to be investigated. Wether that makes them liable or not i have no idea

TBH Im not sure if they would either, but it would be interesting to see the look on their face as they try to wriggle out of it if it did break.
