    Default Spider Tuning Box

Iíve been running a Signum 1.9CDTI (150) with a Spider Tuning Box. The other day the Car/Spanner light came on indicating a fault code of :
P242F - Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Ash Accumulation
This had the car running in limp mode? with loss of acceleration etc.

I mostly do town journeys stop/start of under a mile 4x a day all week. and with a DPF is probably just my problem, however at the weekend I go on longer journeys.

Is it advisable to manually start a Regen of the DPF through a OBD (on board Diagnostic) tool every so often or just remove the Box.

On removal the light stayed on and limp mode (loss of power) till it cleared after a motorway run, however I'm a bit apprehensive on refitting at moment. Itís on setting 5 so not overdoing it in that respect and the gains are very noticeable before this new problem. Any advice help would be appreciated. Maybe its not for me If so theres one for sale (reluctantly) as I donít do significant miles.

You really need to do a motorway run, or similar, once a week to clear the DPF. If the DPF saturation level is too high then the engine can't breathe properly and it has been known to kill engines, be careful.
When I have been doing a weeks worth of town driving I tend to do 10 - 15 miles on the motorway in 4th and get the temp up and the revs to around 2500, this should give it enough time to do a regen.

DPF's and slow cold runs just dont mix. It might be worth considering having the dpf removed completely, then having the regen mapped out of the ecu and more performance mapped in, then you can ditch the tuning box.
Mine regens approx every 750 to 1000 miles, so i know when to watch for the signs of regen around that mileage and take the car on a hot motorway run, then it completes regen with no fuss and thats it done for another 750 miles.

Where would the nearest place do a DPF removal and remap and at what cost? Perth and Kinross area.
