    Default Spacesavers! Yuk!!!

I was pumping my tyres up at a garage today when the sidewall failed on the O/S and Bang!! Put the spacesaver on to get home. First time I've had the misfortune to drive with one on. What a horrendous piece of cack. Definitely time to look for a full size spare.

The tyre was due a change and I had the two new ones that I got off Dean. Went down to the little independent that I always use and the regular guy wasn't there. His assistant changed the tyres and you guessed it, the rims are all scratched. Problem is, he has always done my cracking deals and I only paid a tenner to have the tyres on. Consequently, I'm biting the bullet and I'm not going to complain.

99 people out of a hundred wouldn't notice them. But it's just that feeling that YOU know they're scratched.

Never mind...worse things happen at sea!

had the same experience last weekend at the Regal rolling road day...

Got a puncture on the A3 ( the motorway bit) and had to run on the spacey down the m way.. C was not happy....

I've also found the only way to avoid getting scratched wheels is to do it bl##dy things myself....

We'll have to put out an appeal... the family are all ditching their spacey's so i've got another 4 full size wheels to find now..

I need a 19" wheel. Not sure if it will fit in the wheel bay.

I need a full sizer too. I read that the range of the skinny spare is about 50 miles which equates to a journey to or from work. This gives no time to trawl round for a decent garage on arrival!

Yep, it will, Payney has one as a spare on his and it sits flush, just take out the plastic ring under the spacey..

Pitiful isn't it...thats why my vec, C's old vec and my dads CDTi all have full sizers... it's no good us being in kent at midnight trying to get another tyre..

With the recent increase in family vectra's i'm now on the hunt for more full sizers..

I hated the space saver too, so I was able to get a GSi wheel (not perfect, but OK for a spare) off eBay for about £20. I already had a tyre with about 4mm tread left which I had fitted to this wheel. As stated above, it fits in the wheel well if you take out the plastic spacer.

Feel a damn sight better about having a 'proper' spare wheel as I sometimes do lengthy trips away and didn't fancy running around on what looks more like a bicycle tyre.
