    Default CCR2006 - MP3 CD's

Hi, Apologise if this has already been discussed - have looked at previous threads but can't find specific info. I have a CCR2006 unit in my 2004 Vectra
estate. Appreciate it will not play mp3 tracks from a cd - can I convert mp3 tracks to another format that will play in my machine - it does try to play mp3 tracks but keeps skipping - but not sure what formats will play.

It will only play audio CDs, not data ones. And a bit fussy about recordable ones at that.

I found when I hgad this headunit in my previous Elegance, a CDR disc would only play successfully in the 1st slot of the 4 disc magazine. In any other slot it would either not play at all, or would jump. Experienced the same problem with my Vec-B as well with the multidisc CD player that was in the glove box.

It's the same changer unit as in the Vec B and Astra. I found that some makes of CDR play better than others, and yes - slot 1 seems more likely to work than the others, but I have had some work. If you find it does detect the CD, but skips or won't play some tracks, changing to a different disc and back again sometimes helps.

But basically that CD player isn't designed to play CDRs at all, so it's laser, sensor and tracking electronics are right on the edge of what they can physically do in order to play them. It will result in the laser's life being shortened too, as it's got to run flat out all the time because of the lower reflectivity of CDRs compared to pressed CDs.

Ok, Thanks for the replies - I'm quite happy with the unit itself - but was wondering if I was recording the CD's in the wrong format ie Wav, etc - Probably buy a few blank cassettes and make up recordings using them.
    Thanks again

Write them as audio CDs, not data ones. The format of the music files before you create the disc image is irrelevant.

You'll have to use a program that allows you to create audio CDs, eg iTunes, Media Player, Nero, Brasero, etc, not just drag the files to the CD in Windows or MacOS or whatever.
