    Default air con-climate?

Hi guys i gave a 1.9cdti(8v) 04 platewith air con, that doesn't work due to a faulty clutch unit in the compressor, i have recentlly bought a 1.9cdti(16v) elite estate 54plate, Both preface lift

The estate has full climate control and was wondering if it's possible to swap this over whilst i swap the compressor it also has scroll buttons on the steering wheel where mine has push buttons i'd always assumed that buttons = half canbus scroll = full canbus but after reading some threads on here it appears not is this the case?

All or any info would be apprecaited

    Thanks for reading

The Estate will be full canbus mate. The climate control will not be swappable - it consists of a million more components than the bog standard air con system including cabin temp sensors, extra valves and ECU stuff. The pump itself may be the same (you'd have to check the part numbers) but the rest of it is a complete non-starter.

    Much like the car.

I suppose technically anything's possible - if you have a few weeks on your hands to do it there's no harm in trying...

Be sure to do a full report with photos though...

The change from half-canbus to full-canbus took place from a manufacture date of August 2004. So an 04 plate was probably made before August and so half-canbus, and a 54 plate is more likely to have been made after -though there are some 54s with half-canbus that were made before August, but not registered until after.

cheers guys can all the ecu's be cleared with tech2 and then progammed to my car i was planning in swapping the loom over due to the estate having all the wiring for heated seats and mine doesn't and i have fitted leather and switches so just want them to work, I know it will be a big job but had to replace the engine and heater matrix when i first got the car so not donted by that, just don't know if my REC would be able to be programmed to work all the seats, climate rear elec windows and rain sensor

Half and full can looms cannot be mixed mate the reason being you don't have the necessary interconnections and rather than trying to rewire the loom you would be better buying a loom that is for the year of car with the functions on it you want it would take hours and hours to sort it and it just isn't worth it, it was enough of a nightmare on my preface full can going to a facelift loom the variations even in the radio plugs mean best get the right or a close doner loom.

With all the other things you are planning rear electric windows and heated seats (wiring behind switches missing) may mean you need a body loom as well or several wires adding having just done all the work you are planning with Dean on a couple of cars it is a shed load of work but it is doable
