    Default Rear disc removal nightmare

    Evening guys.

Need to replace pads and discs but ive rounded the torx bolt on the caliper carrier due to using a normal socket.

Whats the chances of grinding the head off and removing that way as i need to replace the bolts anyway???

    cheers

Best bet is to hammer a smaller socket over them or use a locking nut removal tool, the last thing I would want to do is cut the heads off.

Must admit, having welding gear to hand does help.

or halfords (and others) do a roller stud removal type which works. These bolts are torqued to 130+ Nm and not at a great angle or access so consider if you cannot get good access taking to a garage and get it on a two post stand. A garage can always weld a nut on whats left of the stud.
As rushy said leave something to get hold of.

Did mine today, was all tight! Though i went and got a E20 Torx socket Worth the money to get one,

Failing that, I would be at the now with some heat, and smashing a smaller socket on there.

Sorry I missed the original point about you not using the correct socket. Most motor factors have a set for £15 quid (sealey) Halfrauds do a professional (GFL) for appx £22. False economy not buying the right tools. Use with torque bar and get replacement bolts ordered.
