Default blower speed 4 not working. 1,2,3 OK

Sorry if this is wrong section, not sure if blower problem or electrical (also blower section says private and I cannot access). I can use blower speed 1, 2 and 3 so not resisitor fault. Nothing from speed 4. Also demister button does not operate speed 4. I have a 2003 1.8LS. Thanks for any help.

Do a search for resistor pack its one of the most common failures and is cheap to sort.

Except that the symptoms he's described are the complete opposite - usually it's nothing on speeds 1-3 and only 4 working. He says his 4 doesn't work and 1-3 do.

Sounds like the by-pass relay to me.

The relay operates on speed 4 and by-passes the resistor pack. It is located above the glovebox. Remove the glovebox and look above it. I think there are 2. Try swapping them round and if the blower ONLY works on 4 then you have solved the mystery.

as already been said, that if blower works on 1,2&3 but not 4 its will most problery be the brown relay behind the glove box.
