    Default A20DTH in vectra c? help.

    Hi guys hope you are all well.

    Several months have passed nearly since my engine ceased its being in dramatic fashion and i have my lil astra f saloon back on the road and am pulling my vectra to my m8s garage so i can work on it on an extremely gratefully made available 2 post lift for the foreseeable.

    I am shopping around for an engine now that i have saved an amount towards the cost. Im looking in the region of 1.5-2k to cover cost of an engine/turbo+ or complete engine/loom/ecu or complete salvage car.

    On to the topic of the thread now, i am wondering whether or not anyone has any information or has attempted to fit an A20DTH from an insignia.

    I understand the insignia is built on a differing platform (epsilon II) as opposed to the vectra (epsilon I) but can they be mounted?

    The main reason being that i am yet to find an engine that meets my requirements. Obviously being low mileage, the right price range and newer the better for updates etc.


    Some ballparks are:

    08 c cdti sri 150, severe front and side damage, mileage 20k+, £2.6k

    06 c cdti sri 150, severe front, ecu loom damage, mileage 50k, <£2k

    11 insignia A20DTH 5-20k short block £800-1.1k, complete £1-£1.5k

    05-08 Z19DTH 50-80k short block £600-1.1k, complete £1-1.5k



    Any ideas?


    Once this is out the way i think id require a m32-6 speed with low mileage rather than use my old box (f40?) which with 115k on it ill be asking for problems anyway surely?

    Doubt it will be straight forward mate what mileage u want as the 50k from the 06 is probs your best

    I think it will be as difficult as trying to fit a Z19DTH to a Vectra-B - it's just not designed for it and the Insignia's version of Canbus will differ too much. Instead of an engine replacement task to get your Vectra back on the road, it would become a long-term labour of love, taking months of planning and execution, with the only purpose being to prove it can be done. Expect it to cost 2 or 3 times as much to do as it would cost to fit the correct engine.

    Makes a lot of sense thanks, so sticking with th Z19DTH and if i was to go for a salvage car route i may as well pay the extra and get a good one and break what i can off it to sell whilst retaining all the low mileage bits for my car just not confident in how much value is held in the bits of a wrecked car.

    Is it reasonably straight forward and just a case of engine mounts when switching a JTD unit to a vectra?

    Really don't want to end up with an engine in me car and sorted then beginning forking out for manifolds etc. am i safer with any JTD? or a facelift vectra for an engine with updated bits? or is there a particular year stuff changed at all?

    I appreciate your replies guys done some digging about but going round in circles lately
