    confused vvti, more problems.

    hi everyone,
    i drive a 1.8 vvti sri 2006 with 150k, "Z18 XER ENGINE"
    having some problems lately.
    renewed the timing belt the other day along with camshaft and crankshaft seals.
    at first the car was fine then EML came on and then i started noticing that their was very little power in first and second gear.
    also 5 mins after starting the car, a rattle appears to come from the top of the engine,
    when we topped up the oil it went away then came back again.
    i done the peddle test and got these codes,
    0011 = A camshaft position, timing over advanced/system performence.
    0014 = B camshaft position, timing over advanced/system performence.
    0100 = mass or volume air flow malfunction.
    0110 = intake air temperature circut malfunction.
    0170 = fuel trim malfunction.

    we thought that maybe the timing was out a tooth but when we checked it, it was fine.
    we done a compression test and got these readings.
    cylinder 1 = 9.5. "timing belt end"
    cylinder 2 = 9.5.
    cylinder 3 = 9.5.
    cylinder 4 = 7.5.
    these reading are the same readings i got 4 months ago and car was running fine then???

    has anyone any ideas????

    confused

    just a wee update,
    i done another peddle test their and the code 0170 is no longer showing???

    if the VVT oil control valves were shot, would it show these symtoms?

    Sure someone else has this lack of power on the vvt just this week or last. Sure it was a solenoid.

    Yeah, that was mine. I had no power in any gear. Also different fault code.
